Hachimantai is a mountain resort area that is used all year round, home to two of the mountains in the One Hundred Mountains of Japan, Mt. Iwate and Mt. Hachimantai. So that visitors can enjoy the natural features of the region to their hearts' content, the Hachimantai Mountain Hotel has certified guides by the Japan Mountain Guides Association. The Concierge Desk in the Nature Guide Station, located next to the lobby, offers a great variety of information and is able to make suggestions on different ways for visitors to enjoy their stay. It can also be enjoyed as a gallery, with its great display of beautiful photographs of the surrounding nature, taken by local photographers.

Expert guides on the local area are able to provide visitors with a great variety of information, from easy walks to full-blown trekking programs, including information on nearby tourist spots, how best to enjoy the flowers and wild birds of the whole region, how to make the best of each season, as well as information on local cultural experiences. Our guides are always in hand to help in many different ways, so that hotel guests can enjoy our mountain resort to the full, whether they are on a short or long stay.
Regular Programs to be Enjoyed at Any Time
Our Hachimantai Mountain Hotel is able to offer a variety of trekking programs for enjoying the nature of Hachimantai on foot, accompanied by certified guides by the Japan Mountain Guides Association. We can cater for all abilities, from easy trekking courses for beginners that can be completed in around two hours, to full-blown hiking courses for Intermediate to advanced-level walkers, all suitable for people even in small groups. Please inquire by 16:00 two days before your desired trekking day.

We also offer scheduled trekking programs for enjoying the highlights of each season, surrounded by beautiful scenery featuring Mt. Iwate, Mt. Hachimantai, Appi Kogen, and much more. Come and enjoy some themed trekking experiences with a Hachimantai Resort guide, so you can focus on certain aspects of the natural surroundings, such as the beautiful flowers, or the autumnal leaves. Our Nature Guide Station has had great reviews for its "Time for Flowers" talk, offering informative slide shows and explanations led by an expert guide on plants. The station also holds a "Time for Wild Birds" talk, which offers information on the wild birds that can be spotted around the local region. "Time for Stars" provides a talk about the stars using a projector, led by an expert guide in astronomy, where visitors can also go outside to look up at the starry skies. These fun and enjoyable talks are likely to deepen our visitors' interest in nature, for both children and adults alike.
